Ansar Projects offers individualised short breaks to people with a learning disability.
Our Short Breaks house is called Highgrove and here we provide excellent person centred support and a home-from-home experience.
Most importantly, we make sure everyone has a brilliant time!
Short breaks (also known as respite) are popular with younger people who have just left or are getting ready to leave school or college as part of their development.
Some of the benefits of staying at Highgrove include:
• Making new friends
• Developing social network
• Experiencing what it would it is like to stay away from home
• Learning new life skills
• Becoming more independent
Highgrove is a large, detached house situated in Bury.
Unfortunately during the pandemic we were unable to keep up to date with our internal decoration schedule so we are now playing catch up.
But on a positive note – all the colours have been selected and Highgrove will be getting a complete painting makeover at the end of September 2022.
The house is close to local amenities with excellent road and public transport links.
Some of the features of Highgrove include:
-
- Three good sized bedrooms
- A bathroom with jacuzzi bath and separate shower room, plus a downstairs toilet
- Spacious kitchen-diner with all the facilities needed to cook and prepare meals
- Lounge with television and music
- Utility and laundry room
- Off-street parking
- A well-maintained mature garden
- A cosy courtyard with awning for those hot summer days
It is situated in Bury and has good links to a variety of local amenities including the Rock shopping centre.
Over the years the staff have dedicated themselves to creating a home from home atmosphere.
Ansar Projects particular experience is in providing support to young people seeking greater independence into adulthood.
One of the main benefits for someone supported at Highgrove is the opportunity to make friends and build confidence within a safe, fun and structured environment.
At the end of 2021 people supported by Ansar Projects completed a Wellie Workout Walk to raise some money to buy a Greenhouse and planting beds.
These are now in use in the Highgrove garden and we have been growing our own produce.
We have a large second lounge which is currently being developed into a sensory and chill out space for people to use which we hope to have completed before the end of 2022.
