Who are Thera East Anglia?
We are a subsidiary company of Thera Group and we support people with a learning disability in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
Our passion is providing the very best support to people with a learning disability – in their own home in the local community, close to their family and friends.
We work across Norfolk, Peterborough and Cambridgeshire and support people in all aspects of their lives, ranging from a few hours a week up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our support is varied according to what a person needs from us, which means you could be working:
- in a person’s own home
- in the local community
- at our short breaks (respite) support
- at a person’s workplace or training placement
What does a career at Thera East Anglia look like?
A career at Thera East Anglia is not your normal social care career. We provide person-centred support to people with a learning disability to support them to live the life they choose.
Tony works as a support worker for Thera East Anglia and came from a very different industry beforehand and reflected on his experience at Thera East Anglia:
I’ve learnt that there is no real blueprint to being a good support worker; you can come from any background, any career, and as long as you have a big heart, are willing to listen and learn, and willing to put the people you support first – then you, too, can become a great support worker.

Abi Barlow, Community Support Leader for Thera East Anglia, reflected on her career progression throughout her time at Thera East Anglia.
I’ve progressed from a support worker, to a senior support worker, to a team co-ordinator and now a community support leader.
Depending on what you want to achieve in your career, we will work with you to be confident and effective in your current role. We will also identify where you might be able to upskill to progress your career. This includes regular training, workshops and recognised qualifications, such as NVQs.
Many of our staff develop specialisms during their time with us, including Positive Behaviour Support Coaches and Key Movers. We have also seen some of our staff progress to roles within our central services, including training and resourcing.
