How Can Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Benefit You?
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is used throughout the Thera Group to support people to have a better quality of life.
Alongside your support plan, you may be offered Positive Behaviour Support. This helps you to have a better quality of life by making sure that the people who support you know how to help you when you aren’t feeling your best.
Positive Behaviour Support may benefit you if you:
- Experience anxiety and mental health difficulties
- Have a history of trauma
- Show behaviours of concern
It may help you to build resilience and plan how to have a good day, so you have more control over how you feel.
Who will work with me?
You may work with our Head of Positive Behaviour Support or one of your local Positive Behaviour Support Coaches. We will work alongside you and your circle of support to reflect on how you can have the best day possible.
We train staff to recognise the soft signs and subtle changes that tell us when you are becoming worried, anxious or stressed, and offer support to change this.
We will work with you to understand:
- What makes for a good day and how we can help you to make this happen – choosing things that could improve your mood and things you enjoy doing
- Signs you are beginning to feel anxious or less happy and what we can do about it
- How to help when you are upset, anxious or annoyed
We ensure staff get to know you really well, how you communicate and what a good day looks like for you.
