Thera’s vision is that people with a learning disability can be leaders in society. This is demonstrated throughout Thera Group through the support offered and paid roles for people with a lived experience of a learning disability across the organisation.
One of the paid positions for people with a learning disability is the role of the Service Quality Directors, who perform a vital role at Thera to ensure that the people we support receive the highest quality of care. It is a leadership position and the Service Quality Directors work alongside the Managing Director of their local company to create plans for how the company should run.
The theme for Scottish learning disability week this year is leadership and Equal Futures, Thera (Scotland) and Gig Buddies with Thera Trust are hosting a conversation café where people with a learning disability can learn more about leadership.
At the conversation café, people with a learning disability can come along and hear from people with lived experience who are leaders in their own life. People can:
- Learn how to be a leader
- Chat with others
- Enjoy a light lunch
- Take part in presentations, games, activities and good conversations.
