Glenis secures a paid job at a West End Theatre

Posted 17/03/2025

Glenis has recently secured a role at the Apollo Theatre (part of Nimax Theatres). We sat down with her to hear more about her new role in a busy West End theatre.

As part of Neurodiversity Week, we’re hearing from people across our programmes who have secured paid work. Today we hear from Glenis who has been working at the Apollo Theatre (part of Nimax Theatres). We also hear from her manager, Leigh, about what it’s like having Glenis on the team.

What job searching journey has been like over the past year?

My job search journey started off rocky until I interviewed with Nimax which got me back on my feet again. I was worried that I wasn’t selected because they thought I wasn’t good enough but then I got the email that I did get the role!

How has have you found the new role?

I found the role similar to a previous role that I had but there have been some new challenges, I learnt how to sell different items and working in the cloakroom. I really enjoy delivering the mini ice creams, restocking the sweets, chocolates and crisps, especially when the children want to buy them.

What are your plans for the future?

I want to stay with Nimax as its helping to build up my confidence until it is time to look for a new challenge.

On Glenis’ time at the Apollo Theatre, Leigh Spence, Assistant Theatre Manager said:

Since joining the Apollo Theatre, Glenis has established herself as a vibrant, kind and caring member of the front of house team. Initially, Glenis started working with us during our Christmas Kids show, a notoriously busy and fast-paced environment, and absolutely flourished. Her patience and willingness to learn has been evident every time that she comes to work, and we have seen her grow in confidence and determination to deliver excellent customer service each time that she attends the theatre. Continuing in her employment now on the so far sold-out run of Fawlty Towers has brought new challenges, each of which Glenis has handled with grace, knowing when to ask questions, provide feedback and in turn establish a great foundation of skills. Glenis has a quiet, calm, quality that eases patrons as they arrive from the busyness of London’s streets, and she provides a great welcome to our guests. She is a delight to work with, and we are excited to see how Glenis grows in knowledge and experience as she continues in her role with us.

Congratulations on securing this role Glenis! We look forward to hearing how your career develops.
