Neurodiversity Celebration Week – Mofe’s Story

Posted 17/03/2025

In today's blog to celebrate Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we're hearing from Mofe who has recently completed a work placement at Garden Studios.

As part of Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we’re hearing from people across our programmes. Following on from Monday’s post about our partnership with Garden Studios, today we’re sitting down with Mofe who has been taking part in a work experience placement to find out more about his time at Garden Studios.

Tell us a bit more about your role at Garden Studios?

My main duties at Garden Studios were setting up podcast equipment, including organising room setup such as positioning chairs and taping cables. My other duties was working on reception duties, booking in clients for appointments and making sure they have signed into the visitors login screen. During quiet times, I had to fill up the coffee machine and water the plants. Plus whilst working on reception I had some admin duties to complete such as checking emails, and updating the technical equipment check list.

What’s been your favourite thing that you have done during your work experience placement at Garden Studios?

I enjoyed learning about podcast equipment, I learnt a lot and the process of how to put a podcast together. Watching the Mama Youth Group taught me the use of their camera working the future, plus advice on creating content.  I would like to learn more about how to produce podcasts as I would like to present my own day! It was a fun environment there was lots of friendly faces, I got to listen to some famous people from the music industry rehearse and perform.

What was the recruitment process like?

The recruitment process was straightforward, I felt supported by staff members as I was really nervous before the interview. The interview experience was different to what I have had before, I feel really good to have to gone through this process.

What are your plans for the future? Would you like to continue working in the creative industry?

I would like to continue working in the creative industry, I am looking for roles such as a runner or production assistant as I feel more confident after this work experience. I would also like to learn more about networking and attending creative industry events to meet new people, and find out more about getting a job with a film/tv company or as a freelancer.
