Virginia brings over 20 years of experience in social care and has worked her way up from support worker, progressing through to Head of Quality, and eventually becoming the Lead Director of The Quality Company.
Virginia has a unique professional history having worked for various support providers, as well as the Care Quality Commission, which regulates and monitors support providers. This has given her a specific knowledge and skillset regarding support providers monitoring strategies and quality.
Virginia holds a PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy) in Social Work from the University of Sussex.
As Lead Director, Virginia intends to continue The Quality Company’s pioneering work in employing people with a lived experience to monitor support providers, and continue promoting the model across the sector to other organisations.
There shouldn’t be anywhere its acceptable that learning disability providers don’t have feedback from those with lived experience. It’s such a goldmine of experience and information that people should be using. I talked to a smaller provider that’s interested in doing what we’re doing. When we talk about impact this is a really important part of what we do.
It’s been a brilliant time so far. The premise of The Quality Company is that we work with people with a lived experience to coproduce support and we embody that mentality in our day to day running of the company.
