Thera East Anglia has been shortlisted for three awards in the Great British Care Awards 2024!

The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events across the United Kingdom that celebrate excellence across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to individuals and teams who have demonstrated outstanding excellence and impact in their field of work.

Two staff members and one support team from Thera East Anglia have made the Eastern Region Finals in three categories! These include the Frontline Leaders Award, the Housing with Care Award and Home Care Worker Award. For another regional final, Operational Manager Nick, has been selected as a judge.

The Frontline Leaders Award

A person who is a supervisor, senior care worker, team leader or a first-time manager receives this award. They are someone who has shown clear commitment to improving the delivery of care and support within their team. Community Support Leader Sam, was shortlisted for the award!

Sam became a Community Support Leader whilst undergoing many rounds of chemotherapy. Sam created a wonderful home for the people we support despite these challenging circumstances and became very trusted by the people we support and her staff team.

I don’t know quite how to put into words how much I admire Sam’s attitude to life and approach to work. I call her superwoman!

The Housing with Care Award

The Northgate Team was shortlisted for this award. It recognises a team or individual providing person centred services in supported living.

They also had to have been driven to provide the highest quality support to individuals, supporting them to be independent in their home and in the community.

The Northgate team have been described as very welcoming and professional but have a great sense of humour! The families of the people we support describe them as very attentive and considerate towards their loved ones.

There can be no better care team in Thera.

Home Care Worker Award

Ash, Support Worker, has been shortlisted for this award, which recognises someone’s role in providing high quality support for people in supported living.

Ash became a Support Worker in 2013 after wanting a change from his previous profession as a lorry driver. He has supported many people with a learning disability and has embodied our person-centred vision every step of the way. Recently, he supported someone to join their local disabled swimming club committee.

He’s a great advocate for those he supports and promotes choice and independence in whatever he does.

We are so proud of our staff and their dedication to supporting people with a learning disability to live the lives they choose. Everyday, they are breaking down the many misconceptions surrounding social care and learning disabilities. These awards are one of the many examples of the life changing impact they have on people’s lives.

We wish all the nominees the very best of luck for the finals!
