After the success of their Funday at the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton in July, Thera South West came together again at Powderham Castle for another day full of activities in the sunshine including people supported by Thera South West, their families, staff teams, and board members.
There was rhythmic drumming, pottery painting, karaoke, ice creams for all, games and a raffle. Everyone could also take a tour around Powderham Castle and the grounds which has a petting zoo too. Refreshments were kindly provided by a local charity Dawlish Garden Trust, where some of the people supported by Thera South West have work placements.
Jane Feierabend, Managing Director of Thera South West, said
It was wonderful to see the people supported by Thera South West, their families, and staff teams, get together on such a lovely sunny day at the beautiful Powderham Castle Estate for our second ‘Funday’ of this year. There were lots of smiling faces, celebrations and much enjoyment was had joining in with the variety of activities available. The ice cream van proved a hit, and we most definitely have some stars in the making who had their time in the limelight on stage showcasing their drumming and karaoke skills!
When asked about the day, Chris Evans, Chairperson of Thera South West’s board, said
Thera’s Funday at Powderham Castle in Devon was an inspiration – and fun! It was a great opportunity for people supported by Thera South West, their families and support teams to relax, socialise and try out a range of activities from karaoke to visiting the pets’ corner. The cheerful atmosphere was memorable, and the enthusiastic drumming was still ringing in my ears as I left!
Thera South West want to say a big thank you to everyone who attended the Funday and the people who helped organise the event, they cannot wait for the next one!
